Times square to Central park through sunshine and rain, New York

New york, concrete jungle where dreams are made of…..lalala tururu. Sooo cliché! but i couldn’t help it. That song kept playing in my head throughout the flight. There is so much hype about the city, it’s ridiculously infectious, makes one just want to be associated. I could not wait to land. I wanted to experience all that had been sold to me about the city by the media.. life goals i tell ya.

I was too excited to be staying right in the center of all the action with times square being a stone throw away and central park being just a few meters from the hotel. I eagerly waited for morning to reach so i could go exploring.

True to what i was told, the streets are indeed very busy. They are filled with people constantly pacing up and down. A leisurely verses brisk walk easily gives away a tourist from a native new yorker. Everybody minds their own business so if you are new to the place, better get your map ready. Stopping random strangers is an option, it works, but that depends on if one stops the right ones. It being such a cosmopolitan city with so many people visiting almost everyday, one could find themselves seeking directions from people just as clueless.

Early morning and the weather was a bit emotional, it started out dull and drizzly but turned out sunny, nice and golden.

  • the weather, bummer! this did not deter the mass of people that filled the streets, including me

  • took one for the road

  • the heart of NYC, just like the ad says. lights up so good at night

  • photobomb! that bus picked the wrong time to pass behind me, ha!

  • i wasn't the only one smiling when the sun came out, happy days

  • it was a great time to be in Times Square, the city felt so alive

  • yellow cabs here, there... everywhere

  • walked a few blocks down the street and there she was, central park

  • sooo beautiful

  • it turned out a better day than anticipated. the park lived up to my expectations.. if i do say so myself

  • i recognized this scene from somewhere... hmm!

  • spotted a squirrel.. aaaaa. took me back to animations like 'the nut job' one of my all time favourites

  • bloom

  • such a huge park, i couldn't cover it all. a horse ride is recommended if you want to go all around it

  • it was time for lunch. sat by this cozy restaurant for hours on end

  • then went about window shopping for souvenirs

  • this time i decided to deviate from my norm, i picked up a poster instead.. and just wanted to buy the whole stand

  • New York, you were music to my ears.
