a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland

I felt content sitting in the train looking out into the lush green fields as i went back to Glasgow, it had been a wonderful day at Edinburgh. Not only was the scene captivatingly green, it was full of beautiful horses and fat sheep which were nice to see. A fifty minute train ride back to the hotel was what i was in for, and that was okay as it was very comfortable. I had taken the same train ride to Edinburgh in the early morn so i roughly knew what the journey back would be like.

When i drew my curtain at 7:30 am, i was certain it would be raining. Heck! i was even prepared for snow. Every time i visited Scotland, i had never been fortunate enough to experience what i did this time.. the sun. Happy days. It was four degrees celsius though, but the day got warmer.

Edinburgh is so neat and clean.. well at least i can strongly say that about the parts of it i was in. The streets are filled with many nice little shops and cosy restaurants, really a nice city to be in. The buildings tell of a very rich history. I had kept my visit to the Edinburgh castle pending for too long. That was my first stop of the day as i went about exploring.

  • leaving queens station in Glasgow for Edinburgh. 9 a.m

  • got there about one hour later

  • at this point i was just following the crowd. they had cameras in their hands so i knew we were all going for the same thing

  • it was such a clear lovely day

  • it took a bit of a hill climb to get to the castle. it was scenic so i didn't mind

  • Edinburgh castle

  • i liked the view

  • the chilly breeze was refreshing too

  • leaving the castle i could hear his bagpipe from miles away, his traditional outfit was quite as loud too

  • he suddenly said something funny and i struggled to compose myself

  • the full on kilt.. scottish men traditional wear

  • how about that for an everyday sign board

  • strolling down these streets got me in such a good mood

  • i stumbled upon the end of the world.. it was right behind me. ha!

  • being my first time to Edinburgh, i enjoyed my experience

  • o so cosy. last stop of the day for lunch

  • on pressing the centre of this magnet it plays bagpipe music.. its the little things.
